Early Years: Dave grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania and started guitar lessons in the 4th grade. After learning the basics, he was introduced to Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin. In high school, jazz music caught his ear and he studied with the amazing Philadelphia guitarist Frank DiBussolo.
College: He attended Taylor University, in Indiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Music. During that time he led bands and studied improvisation with clarinet virtuoso Frank Glover.
After Taylor University, he earned a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the acclaimed University of North Texas. The program focused on performance, composition and arranging skills. He studied jazz guitar with Fred Hamilton and Noel Johnston. After 3 years of Texas heat, the Pacific Northwest called his name and he moved to Portland, Oregon to be involved in the music scene.
Today: Dave is active in Portland as a freelance guitarist and instructor. He maintains a busy teaching and performance schedule and can be heard in a variety of musical settings: solo guitar, worship music, jazz trios, soul/funk bands, etc.
